**Lesson Plan: Eating Habits: Bad Eating Habits**
**Grade Level:** Nursery 1
**Subject:** Basic Science and Technology
**Topic:** Eating Habits: Bad Eating Habits
**Duration:** 30 minutes
**Objective:**
- Students will be able to understand what eating habits are.
- Students will be able to identify and describe bad eating habits.
- Students will learn the importance of good eating habits.
**Materials Needed:**
- Picture cards illustrating various eating habits (both good and bad)
- Storybook about eating habits
- Crayons and drawing paper
- Healthy snack for each student
**Lesson Procedure:**
1. **Introduction (5 minutes)**
- Welcome the students and gather them in a circle.
- Start with a simple warm-up activity: "If You’re Happy and You Know It". This gets the children engaged and ready.
- Tell the children that today they will talk about eating habits and why some are not good for their health.
2. **Story Time (10 minutes)**
- Read a short storybook that talks about eating habits, including a focus on bad eating habits (e.g., eating too many sweets, skipping meals, not brushing teeth after meals).
- After reading the story, ask the children questions to ensure they understood. Example questions:
- "What did the main character eat that was not healthy?"
- "How did eating too many sweets make the character feel?"
3. **Discussion and Activity (10 minutes)**
- Show the picture cards and discuss each one. Ask the children to identify if the habit shown is good or bad.
- Picture cards showing bad habits: eating lots of candy, not eating vegetables, drinking soda, eating in front of the TV.
- Picture cards showing good habits: eating fruits and vegetables, drinking water, washing hands before eating.
- Encourage the children to speak about their experiences and discuss what they eat at home.
4. **Hands-On Activity (5 minutes)**
- Give each child a piece of drawing paper and crayons. Ask them to draw a picture of themselves eating something healthy.
- Walk around the room and provide assistance, praising their efforts.
5. **Healthy Snack Time (5 minutes)**
- Provide a healthy snack (e.g., slices of fruit) for the children to eat.
- Make sure everyone washes their hands before eating.
- Use this time to reinforce the message about good eating habits.
**Conclusion (5 minutes)**
- Recap the discussion about bad eating habits and how we should try to eat more healthy foods.
- Sing a simple song about healthy eating (e.g., to the tune of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"):
"Healthy, healthy foods are good,
Eat them always like you should.
Fruits and veggies, so yummy,
They are good for your tummy.
Healthy, healthy foods are good,
Eat them always like you should."
- Thank the children for participating and remind them to share what they learned with their families.
**Assessment:**
- Observe the children’s responses during the story and discussion.
- Check their drawings to see if they understand the concept of healthy eating.
- Provide positive reinforcement for correct identification of good and bad eating habits.
**Follow-Up:**
- Inform parents about the day's lesson and encourage them to talk with their children about what they learned.
- Continue to promote good eating habits in future lessons and through school activities.
